Joe’s Restaurant (Abbot Kinney)

By in 15: Venice, Favorite Food Entries

I had their brunch before. I finally tried their weekday Daily Prix Fixe Lunch ($17).

1st: Tri-Color Beet Salad, Arugula, Toasted Pistachios, Fourme d’ Ambert Cheese My goodness this is soooo pretty! My eyes were dazzled by the vibrant colors, it looks too colorful to eat. The hot magenta sauce looks/taste like the dark purple beet juice + mayo/cream? It tastes as good as it looks.

Main course: Togarashi-seared Albacore, Daikon Sprouts, Seaweed Salad, very Asian flavored, taste great!! The layers of colorful seaweed salad looks so graphical.

Dessert: Strawberry, Grape and Coconut Sorbert I’ve been starving myself or eating very bland ‘filling empty stomach’ food late, therefore I was even more impressed by such a fine meal. And to think the entire course cost only $17…just almost too good to be true.

    All that yummy-looking food and only $17? Very cheap!! Very colourful and pretty presentation too. Even if you were not gourmet-deprived, you would probably still be impressed.

    Also, really, words like togarashi and daikon have become standard English words?!

    The restaurant is in super yuppie westside neighborhood hence these words are part of vocabs? ^^;; One of the other main course, has ‘kungpao’ sauce… ^^:;
