Cha Cha Cha (Silver Lake)

//// By in 05: Silver Lake + Echo Park

DSC04801.jpgDSC04804.jpgDSC04799.jpgI absolutely love the interior of this place, so vibrant! Earlier this year IF had a catering from this place, see old entry. Mojito, very good, it’s a little stronger than the other ones I had at other place. It looks very good on the kitschy vinyl table cloth. 🙂 Paella Valenciana, Fresh shrimp, scallops, clams, mussels & fish. $18.50. Very good!

Leaf Cuisine (Culver City)

I always tease a carnivorous co-worker Zack to try this place, Leaf Cuisine that we often drove by. Its hip muted solid green exterior made it looked like a modern furniture store on 3rd St. Finally I tried it myself…my god…Zack’s right! His description of their food: it is as if you’re walking in a jungle and open your mouth to eat anything that’s in your way. Their raw-cooking vegan menu is all organic, oil-less, no dairy products. The wraps are wrapped in giant raw leafs instead of flour bread. I got the Flying Falafel (sprouted chickpea falafel croquettes w/ creamy tahini sauce, marinated onions, mixed greens, tomatoes & sprouts). It is cold, bare and raw. I can take a few bites until my tastebud was numbed by the bitter rawness…it’s like eating grass! Total GREEN overdose! Too hardcore for me. The interior was very nice though, and they were playing someone’s French-mix (with Brigitte Bardot, Paris Combo).

Curry House (Sawtelle)

//// By in 12: Sawtelle

DSC04778.jpgLunch with the Blind group (for Yan and another freelancer’s birthday, haha yes that’s considered a ‘celebration’ for these poor overwork folks). This Curry House (a mediocre chain) has different menu and seems better than the Little Tokyo one. Gratin Set. Reminds me of Japanese western food kid’s lunch set~ 😀

Savoy Kitchen is a long time popular little corner HK cafe in the Chinese-populated Alhambra. They never expand despite the good business. The menu are limited, mostly pasta and curry. It is down-to-earth, presentation-wise are a bit rough. Smoked Duck Pasta, so smokey, so delicious~ Their Hainan Chicken is famous. Very good! The Escargot was unbelievably good too. And the signature HK Chrysanthemum Tea~ Big portion, valued, and surprisingly high quality, awesome!
