Took a wrong turn and wasted lots of stamina walking nowhere around Marina. Finally we winded up on nice Union Street and stomped into the first ‘nice’ cafe we saw. JACKPOT! This French pastry place is incredibly good. We had the Strawberry mousse and vanilla custard cake, there’re iced strawberries inside. The mousse was so light and fresh, so good…so good…arrr why is LA so lack of good French pastries? Vero got the Strawberry mousse cake with ladyfinger and Grace had the chocolate pie. All delicious.

San Francisco Part 2 – China Town

The China Town in SF was pretty big and very happening, much more organized and cleaner than LA. The central area was more touristy looking with obvious historical cultural architectures and lanterns. However further down the hill are blooming businesses. Didn’t get to eat there…though I heard you can find very good “Cow-Tongued Puffs” here. 😀

Pork Store Cafe (San Fransico: Haight)

//// By in 04: SF+Bay Area

DSC04901.jpgDSC04903.jpgDSC04902.jpgWe saw long line queuing outside Pork Store Cafe on Haight Street. It was a historic butcher shop from early 1900s turned cafe in the 70s. Inside are decorated by Psychedelic posters and design…remains of Haight’s Hippie mecca days. We sat on the counter facing the open kitchen, witnessing the cook squeezing massive butter oil on the hash brown…^^;;

DSC04908.jpgDSC04906.jpgDSC04907.jpgMY GOODNESS their pork chop was super good! I never had pork chop this good~ VERY tender, juicy and delicious! Most importantly, if you just order the pork chop only it’s just $2.50. The middle pic is their Low-carb special. ^^;;

San Francisco Part 1

//// By in Travel

DSC04830.jpgDSC04950.jpgDSC04877.jpg
We took shuttle bus –> Bart (Bart=train+subway) to Union Square (Downtown San Francisco) and Taxi –> to our hotel. Our hotel located in Nob Hill, an upscale, formal hilly area that’s known for old landmark luxury hotels. We booked our room from Priceline.com that let you bid your price. Due to such service, they gave us a “non-room” ^^;;; It’s a beautiful room full of fake anitque furnitures with very nice city view. But it’s just the living room part of a suite room, there’s no bed! There’s only a small and uncomfortable folding spring bed and the sofa bed (even worst). We had to make an extra bed out of the sofa’s cushions. ^^;; 2nd pix is view from our hotel room, overlooking the foggy city.

Scala Bistro (San Fransico: Union Square)

//// By in 04: SF+Bay Area

DSC04835.jpgDSC04841.jpg
When we arrived at San Francisco it was nearly midnight, and we were starving. A very nice hotel clerks at Mark Hotel (not even where we stayed) found this still opened Scala’s Bistro at the listing, they said they’d served us if we arrived before midnight. The clerk even called the taxi (with a whistle!) for us. The restaurant has very nice old-world classic Parisian interior with high ceiling and beautiful designs. The open kitchen…love it!

The sauce is so delicious and mussels all are fresh, fat, juicy and big. ^O^ The dessert as well.
