kombucha

//// By in 18: Greater LA

DSC03402.jpgIt’s became quite a trend in the office to drink this healthy oragnic drink called “Kombucha”, so out of curiousity I got one to try try. As far as I know you can only get it at organic markets like Whole food or Wild Oats. So according to the label, it’s some sort of handmade Chinese tea that’s delicately cultured for 30 days which supposedly form some nutrients that is very healthy for the body. It supports digestion, immune system, weight control, liver function, anti-again, healthy skin and hair….etc etc, the list go on and on…^^;;; Sound too good to be true? It’s also kind of an energy drink in a way, it wakes you up and give you energy when you’re tired. Well my art director who’s trying to lose weight + quit smoking is even drinking one per day regularly. Taste wise? well it got quite an aquire taste, it almost taste like drinking vinaegar ^^;; Freda couldn’t stand it, I find it ok. They have 3 flavors (original, gingerade, citrus), but they taste the same to me.

Blue Marlin (Sawtelle)

//// By in 12: Sawtelle

DSCF0160.jpgDSCF0164.jpgFor some reason last week was a Sawtellle week for me, I was there for lunch and dinner nearly everyday. Especially Blue Marlin, gosh so embarassing. I’m totally hooked on their Ikura and Sea Urchin Spaghetti (or variation, just sea urchin, not in picture). Very creamy and gosh so delicious, and lots of sea urchin. Their curry is fantastic, very natural spice and herb tasting. I have to control my urges not to go back there for the Sea Urchin spaghetti this week…too embarassing~ X(

Pie’n Burger (Pasadena)

//// By in 02: Pasadena, Favorite Food Entries

DSC03491.jpgDSC03474.jpgDSC03480.jpgFinally try the famous Pie n’ Burger in Pasadena. Adam said they have the best burger in LA! The interior is very homely 60s, most of the seats are counter seats (I like!!). We sit right in front of the kitchen, and it’s fun to watch Rocky IV that was playing on the TV monitor! 😀 It’s sooo corny cheesy fun! (it’s the one vs the Russian).

Turger burger with french fries as side order. Wow it taste really really good! So juicy and fresh and I love the sauce. The “best burger in LA” claim is possibly true! Adam said the Cheese Burger is THE best one to get, next time next time ^^;;

Swiss on rye sandwich with Potato Salad. Plain and so-so…should have just stick with burger. 🙁 Adam said their hotdogs are no good either.

Tim Biskup Qee

//// By in Collection

DSC03444.jpgDSC03440.jpgBelated entry~ Got this awesome gift for our birthday from Yan! It’s a Qee! 8 inches tall rare one designed by Tim Biskup, called Wrecker Panda. The design is so cool and awesome. The box art is brilliantly designed with Tim Biskup signature illustration types. The front of the Qee bear seems minimal (but crazy~) but the back was fully illustrated~ 😀

What a cute place!! ^o^ The restaurant is on the 2nd floor, the first floor is the kitchen and a cute lounging area. I like the interior, it has that colonial look. There aren’t much on the Brunch menu, but they offer lots of interesting unqiue small plates (they change menu often too). So instead of getting the usual stuffs (sandwich salad, which sound good too), we decide to try those small plates instead, tapas style :P. Beet and cauliflower with melted Brie. Very delicious~

Grill Octupus with pesto sauce and Spaghetti Squash and Parmesan Gratin. The shreaded squash taste almost potato-like. All dishes taste yummy, light yet filling. They’re $7 each. (BTW I was paying for Valet in the first pix. $3.50!! >o< sheessh…better spend some effort to find street parking next time)
