Actually went to a burger place because my friend promised their burger taste really good. Any of you seen that picture of Hilary Swank devouring a burger hungrily right after she won the Oscar where she’s still in her gown and all? That’s the burger place she went. There’s a jukebox on each table where you can play a song for 25 cents. We tried to play this Stray cats song but it ended up playing a Queen song instead -__-;;; We tried the 2nd time (and make sure we key in the right number) and it still played that Queen song, so embarrassing. ^^;;;; I tried their Turkey Burger, it is indeed delicious. The meat is very juicy, the mayonaisse sauce is well blended and not assultingly strong like most burgers. Will definitely go back if I crave burger.

Back to Joan’s on 3rd, the gourmet marketplace with lots of specialty groceries and gorumet food, wine and cheese. I had an really old entry here before about their really delicious peach gummies. There’s a cafe where you can order food as well, though it can get too crowded since it’s such a popular spot. Venetian Coppa Salame with provolone & olive paste, $9.95. Baby Field Greens with goat cheese, spiced pecans and joan’s vinaigrette, $5.50. Not mine. I had a bite though and it’s good!

Prosciutto di parma, mozzarella & roasted peppers, drizzled with extra virgin olive oil, craked pepper & sea salt $9.95. Gosh it’s soooo yummy! (much better than the salame one). The Prosciutto is so soft and chewy, not too salty. Taste fit so well with mozzarella, peppers and olive oil. Of course I bought the peach gummies too, I also tried the apple gummies. I personally think the peach one is still better, but some people like the apple ones more.
There was a movie filming at a clothing boutique just couple store down of Joan’s on 3rd, so it was crowded with lots of film crew. In fact, we saw Paris Hilton who starred in the movie! She sat couple tables away from us at Joan’s. She got brown hair for the film. Also a big coincidence is that, the director of the film is a friend of my friend whom I went there with. Apparently the film is called “Bottom up” which my friend’s friend wrote and had been trying to get it made for the past 4 years. Paris Hilton is basically playing a role just like herself: spoil rich “hollywood” girl. The leading male is Jason Mewes which I didn’t get to see.

Stroh’s Gourmet Deli (Abbot Kinney)

I got lured in by this window sign and turns out it’s a deli with a little European import gourmet market. All the guys worked there are young and hunky (with accent). *_* I bought some of these candies that are supposedly different flavored, but they taste the same. They have chalky texture, I like~ 😀 On my way to the deli, I bump into a friend (who’s a local living there) tell me how tasty the sandwiches are. So I was looking forward to it…

The sandwiches, however, were so-so. The Roasted Beef is so beefy and got sour cream (that I didn’t like). The Caprese is so-so, the mozzarella is soggy and soaked… Disappointed!

There’s an advantage (or disadvantage) to work dangerously close to Abbot Kinney, where import gourmet markets are in abundance: you have easy access to fine exotic chocolate bars from the world. It’s probably one reason why I’m feeling more and more bloated. ^^;; I’m a dark chocolate addict. The Earl Grey one is very luxury packed with paper within plastic cover. Although it has very strong tea flavor but doesn’t mean it taste good, because it was just pure bitterness (not in a rich way) with the tea leaves too powdery like charcoal residue. The Columbian is STRONG. The bitterness lingers on within your mouth for quite a long time with subtlety, very nice! The Mexican Chipotle is my favorite, not too spicy with many subtle aroma (unlike another brand I tried not in pic, too assulting). The Dagoba is quite alright.
