Blue Marlin, Hurry Curry (Sawtelle)

//// By in 12: Sawtelle

Dig up some old food pictures that we haven’t post yet, all meshed into one since they’re all from Sawtelle. First, from Blue Marlin:

Salad (the seseme dressing is really yummy) and bread in a cute basket.

Left: Sea Urchin Risotto very good! I’ll come back just to order this again. Right:Tuna Tartar and Vegetables, very yummy.

Next: Hurry Curry of Tokyo. It is in the same plaza with Blue Marlin in Sawtelle.

DSC01016.jpgDSC01026.jpgSome people think their curry suck but some people think they’re good. So we’ve decide to judge for ourselves. Hey at least it’s CHEAP! Tokyo Curry, $6.95. Ground beef with carrot in curry. This is tasty! The curry taste very unique and different (quite un-Curry like ^^;;;).

DSC01021.jpgDSC01022.jpg We substitute c/w salad with soup; Lobster Bisque and Cream Corn. The Lobster Bisque taste too strong.

So my conclusion? It’s not bad for Japanese style curry! Good for cheap causal meal. I think it’s at least better than Curry House (another JP-style curry chain here). Though Blue Marlin‘s curry is better.

OT Dinner – Lala’s (Melrose)

//// By in 08: Hollywood

DSC01052.jpgDSC01055.jpg IF would order dinner for people who work overtime and they usually get food from pretty nice restaurants. Best of all it’s free, the company paid for everything. Here’s an example from tonight, we order from Lala’s, an Argentina Grill place. Right: Grilled Swordfish $9.95, with onion, tomato, mushroom and red and green peppers, brushed with olive oil and garlic, served with rice. It taste great! The sauce is really yummy and quite unique tasting. Left: Pechuga de Pollo $8.50 Grilled Chicken marinated in lemon-orange sauce. The chicken breast is too dry. We usually eat at our own desks.

Pre-Halloween Party

//// By in Collection

DSC01047.jpgWent to my IF collegue’s early Halloween” party at his house over the weekend. It was great fun, though it was mostly dominated by my collegue’s roomate’s friends (most work at NBC?), so I don’t know most people there. There’s a pumpkin carving contest, they also hire a masseur and a fortune teller (tarot reading) for the party! The fortune Teller was sooooo fake, she told everybody the exactly same things!

Riverside Cafe (Burbank)

//// By in 18: Greater LA

DSC01036.jpg On our way to a party at Burbank, we found this tiny little French cafe Riverside Cafe in the middle of the residential area nearby Disney’s Animation Studio. Despite it looks like an old shack-ish local coffeehouse, it saids Fine Bistro Food. The Chef’s specials are on chalkboard. Turns out it’s not as cheap as I expected ^^;; But it’s very cozy, friendly and family style, we sat outside because it’s a little embarassed as everyone inside seems to know each other.

Café du Village (Larchmont)

//// By in 07: Mid-Wilshire

DSC01011.jpg Went to Café du Village on Friday, it is a casual but crammed little French cafe at Larchmont Village. (Seat, it’s the one I took you to when you first arrived LA 😀 ). It was first recommened by a self-proclaimed gourmet expert (my ex-teacher/AD) for value and taste, he also onced claimed Fred 62 (see few entries below) has the “best pancake in the world” (which I tried before…taste normal….^^:;;)

DSC01009.jpg$8.75 Forgot the name, it’s a salad with Sesema Ahi Tuna, Mango, Caramalize Walnut and Cripsy wonton. Lots of different flavor in one so it’s pretty good.

DSC01006.jpgLamb Chop with Honey Mustard Sauce $12.99 I feel like eating meaty meat these days. It is very tender, juicy, YUM~~ Very satisfied!

DSC01012.jpgNutella Crepe $4.55 Yummy~~~
