White Fish with Potatoes Gratin $16.50 Good! Fresh!![]()
Fontana and Pancheta $7.50 taste normal…
Faux-Filet Piemontais $16.99 Piedmontese New York Strip steak with black peppercorn and roquefort sauce. Stan requested it as rare and bloody as possible, turns out it’s like as burn and cooked as you can get.

Lunch at Fred 62 today. It’s a hipster version of the All-American 50s Diner (like ‘Eatwell’ in Silverlake from previous entry). Other than the usual overpriced burger, breakfast, macaroni etc with wacky names, the hipster twist are: tofu/vegetarian and Asian stuffs (udon, thai). The sofa seat is pretty cool! The exterior is quite cool too, check it out at their website. Food wise….meh…..

Finally went to this French restaurant Cafe Beaujolais at Eagle Rock! Recommended by Vero, we tried to go there 3 times before but either it was closed for re-modeling or no lunch. I love it very much, the place is very cozy and casual (french country-ish), price is fair. All the chefs and waiters are French. They’re very friendly and chatty. Don’t be fool by the photo, soon later this whole place is FULL HOUSE!! We were there early and got the last ‘unreserved’ table. White wine $7.50 a glass.
Escargots de Bourgogne Au Pastis $ 5.95 The Traditional way. Very Yummy! So buttery~~
White Fish with Lobster Sauce $ 14.95 The sauce is very good, taste like Lobster bisque, thick and creamy but too little (sauce nearly all gone when I ate halfway)
Canard Au Miel et Lavande $ 13.95 Duck Breast sauteed with Honey Lavender Sweet and Sour Sauce. This is really really good! The sauce is very tasty but light, not assaulting at all. The meat is soft and juicy.
Mango Moose and Coconut. $5.50 It taste good! A bit too much coconut though.
Raspberry Moose $5.50 The raspberry moose taste very fresh! Don’t like the sponge cake at the bottom though.
T.O.T (Little Tokyo)
//// By Freda in 06: Downtown LA![]()
T.O.T is a sister restaurant to Joymart at LT, they’re only few steps from each other in the same plaza. Both are Yoshoku style. Difference is T.O.T is a bit more traditional Japanese food and more friendly atmosphere, while Joymart has other Asian food and more creative dishes and sake bar. They taste just as good.
(Ahi) Tuna & (Spicy) Tuna Bowl $8 and Avacado Tuna Bowl with Wasabi Soysauce Rice $8 There’s so much veggie in them that it’s practically a salad too, so good!
The restaurant kept LOOPING this Utada song, not the whole song, but some clips that only played from half way till the end, then loop back to that half way…over and over again!!! MY GOD so annoying~~! It’s like they got some promotional disc with only test listen clip and got paid to bomb it. When we were almost finished, it finally stopped and they change CD to Mr.Children’s best album *relief*…^^;;

Le Marmiton (Montana Ave)
//// By Joan in 16: Santa Monica![]()
On last Saturday, we had to come back here after our original destination, “Le Petit Zinc” on Wilshire, does not open for lunch on the weekend >0<, we were starving so just went to nearby ones that we’re familiar with. Chicken liver Pate $9, very good!

Mussels in Provencal sauce and Fries $12. The plate looks messy because the waitress lost her balance and almost pour it on me! The sauce is so-so (too light for my taste), butter and garlic would be better.
