Vero came back for visit this weekend from Seattle and we went to this new Spanish restaurant Bar Celona at Old town Pasadena. 7 out of 8 people drank 2 pitchers of Sangria, $35 each. I only had two glasses, Joan had one as she was driving (and she spilled another glass clean). It was only so-so. Then everything in this place gone downhill from there.

Eat Well (Silver lake)
//// By Freda in 05: Silver Lake + Echo Park
Hip version of the all-American Diner. It’s at Silver Lake. People there seem to all know each other, we felt like total strangers. We planned to go to Cafe Stella but found out it only opens at dinner. So we have to settle for this.

Monsieur Marcel (Hollywood Farmer’s Market)
//// By Freda in 09: WehoLunch at one of our most favorite places Monsieur Marcel yesterday at the Farmer’s Market. It is a French cafe + gourmet market. Their food is really good and not expensive at all. I like the open air seatings. We go there often when we can afford 2 hours lunch break. Lots of tourists and Europeans come to this place.

Sometimes it’d come with olive pate. The darker roll is the olive roll, my fav.!!!
From today’s menu: Proscuitto, Brie with Fig, $7.50 it’s so good! (blue cheese with pear, brie with sweet honey fig…whoever thought of such combination, Love ya!!).
Also from today’s menu: Trout “Almondire”, $15
Ruen Pair (Thai Town)
//// By Freda in 04: Los Feliz, Favorite Food Entries
The Cashier looks more like a shrine! Thai Town is at Hollywood so we always go there for lunch during workdays. There’re many really good and Thai restaurants there. But we always go to Ruen Pair. It is right across the famous restaurant Palm, where Thai Elvis dwelled (^^; a Thai singer perform there at night who dresses up like Elvis and sings Elvis’s song, sound like the real thing!). Since we tried Ruen Pair and were stunned by its good taste…we never went back to Palm ever again.

The entire place is packed with photographs and portraits of the King of Thailand Bhumibol, from his childhood to old age (?).

Duck Stew Noodle $5.00 which is like the yummiest thing EVER! I got two other IF co-workers hook on this. The soup base is just…gosh so yummy!
Food Miniatures
//// By Freda in Collection![]()
Oh we’ve always been suckers for miniatures (especially household items and food…hence the collections of Playmobil). Right now I’m addicted to collect these candy toys. I found them in Japanese markets here so I bought a few. Each box is blind assortment (you don’t know which one you’d get) so we acted like two idiots shaking the boxes at the market to make sure they “sound” different. My main goals are the Asian Goods, Europe Gourmet, and Cafe Meshi series. But damn my bad luck I got the German Sausage set THREE TIMES! >_< Now I really really hate German sausages!!! I think the Asian Goods one is by far the best! But they sold out so fast.
