Macrina Bakery & Cafe (Seattle: Belltown)

This would be the last entry on our Seattle trip (finally~). Another unforgettable gourmet brunch! This would be another place I’d missed most. It’s half cafe half bakery shops. The crowd was crazy that morning. We waited for 15-20 mins and at last got counter seats. The chef cooked in an open kitchen in front of us (that was her hand grabbing bread haha). The coffee was strong and good. The food here are all organic and taste unique, even though it’s regular eggs, french toast, etc. They are non greasy, and got these subtle flavor and aroma (a bit fruity and sweet), wonder what herbs and spices were in them.

Vero’s Smoked Salmon Scramble: Eggs scrambled with onion baily, cold-smoked salmon & herbed creme fraiche, with herb-roasted potatoes & Organic Green Salad. $10 Toasted Almond Waffle $9.25: topped with Fresh black plums & almond butter, apple wood-smoked bacon. This is heavenly ♥~ So many subtle taste. This I never expected much of waffle~ Amazing how the bacon are nearly fatless and not greasy.

Joan: Brioche French Toast $9.25 French toast served on a pool of mango puree & topped with fresh raspberries and honey creme fraciche, served with pork-apple sausage links. Very delicious! The mango sauce is subtle and won’t be too strong or sweet. The sausage has apple flavor which is very yummy!

Typing this made me drool. I want to try everything on the menu! X0

Vivace Rasteria (Seattle: Capitol Hill)

//// By in 05: US Other, Favorite Food Entries

DSC02879.jpgDSC02886s.jpgDSC02878.jpgDSC02884.jpgOne thing I missed most about Seattle is this cafe, Vivace Rasteria. The coffee is Cafe Nico, it is orange and cinnamon latte. MY GOD it is so good! Vero said that she tried Cafe nico elsewhere but none of them made as good as this place. The interior and vibe is great: students, hipsters, punk rockers. Gorgeous painting on the wall~ They do cream print here too but the leaf picture on mine was destory when we shakenly bring it to our table. /_\ The candied apple were bought elsewhere when we got tempted walking by the Rocky Mountain Chocolate store. So good ♥~

Seattle: Capitol Hill (Part 4)

//// By in Travel

DSC02891.jpgCapitol Hill is the hip hometown of Jimi Hendrix (there’s a statue of him there!) It’s quite sketchy and dirty, a lot like Silverlake — lots of hipster bars, cafes, art galleries and hip boutiques (indie brand or hand-crafted) in a rather dirty trashy looking street. Oddly there’s also the Benz and BMW dealers there too. It’s that kind of ironic vibe that hipsters everywhere like. There’re sketchy looking bums walking around harassing pedestrians. There’s also a city college there, hence lots of dorky looking college students around.

Seattle: Pike Place Market (Part 3)

//// By in Travel

DSC02870.jpgDSC02838.jpgThe most touristy place we went in Seattle. Like its abnormally clean downtown the fresh market is also ridiculously clean too! I grew up in environment where groceries were bought at fresh market and I hated the stink and filth. But I appreciate a clean one like this. ^^;; The market located right by the sea and has 3 floors, only the top level are fresh food and fruits. The lower levels are restaurants, magic shops, novelty crafts and antique collector shops that are most common in ALL tourisy piers in West coast (why do pier must always feature these type of business?). I love the reto look of this place, which is genuine, as if time freezed at 70s. ^^;;

DSC02864s.jpgDSC02865.jpgLove this pepper stand~ ♥ There’s also a cheese store with open window to their cheese-making machines, and these huge freshly made cheese in their whole form. *O* The bakery La Panier was there too! Their amandine cookies are Vero’s husband and friends MUST have everytime they visit. The very first Starbucks was started here too.

Rose’s Chocolate Treasures (Seattle: Pike Place Market)

//// By in 05: US Other, Travel

DSC02831.jpgDSC02832.jpgWe wandered to a chocolate shop near Pike Place Market. It has such cute and beautiful interior. It’s decorated with lots of cool old early 20th century chocolate ads and posters (you can buy some of them). The place sell so many different types of chocolate and chocolate related things, the ones on the counter are made by themselves (the rose ones are so beautiful), and European imports on the shelves. Everything seems so nice that it’s hard to decide what to buy!

DSC02829s.jpgDSC02834.jpg So we asked the Chocolatier’s recommendation for gifts (for work colleagues), and she recommend us the Dofin gift set which has 12 different flavors including interesting ones like Earl Grey and Cinnamon. The wrappers’ design of these chocolate is so nice! She also gave expert advise to Veronica for choosing white chocolate. It’s definitely a nice place to buy unique chocolate gifts and fun to chat with an expert to learn about chocolate! The Little Red riding hood poster is so adorable~
