Joe’s Restaurant (Abbot Kinney)

//// By in 15: Venice, Favorite Food Entries

I had their brunch before. I finally tried their weekday Daily Prix Fixe Lunch ($17).

1st: Tri-Color Beet Salad, Arugula, Toasted Pistachios, Fourme d’ Ambert Cheese My goodness this is soooo pretty! My eyes were dazzled by the vibrant colors, it looks too colorful to eat. The hot magenta sauce looks/taste like the dark purple beet juice + mayo/cream? It tastes as good as it looks.

Main course: Togarashi-seared Albacore, Daikon Sprouts, Seaweed Salad, very Asian flavored, taste great!! The layers of colorful seaweed salad looks so graphical.

Dessert: Strawberry, Grape and Coconut Sorbert I’ve been starving myself or eating very bland ‘filling empty stomach’ food late, therefore I was even more impressed by such a fine meal. And to think the entire course cost only $17…just almost too good to be true.

Back here on Wednesday Ladies’ Night last week, drinks were half off~ 😀

Beef Tataki and a very delicious house dessert they gave our table after we stayed way too long ;D
DSC09995.jpgI just wrote an entry about this place and usually I don’t post too much repeated visit (because usually by then I’d know my favorite dish and going back for the same thing), but THIS Simmered pork is absolutely AMAZING! Even though the dish is very chinese, the sauce taste very sweet (very Japanese). The pork is so tender and the fat melted in your mouth, so good~

Haroo House of Tea (Koreatown)

Rose Tea and Greentea Cheesecake (too light)
DSC09959.jpgThe other day when I drove around the corner and found a new cafe (i meant to say “yet another cafe!?”). But this one saids ‘house of tea’ and sells tea leafs. Though turns out not a traditional teahouse I anticipated…:( It’s still a pretty pretty hang out place with nice big window view to the church across the street.

I roughly counted, within 2-3 blocks walking distance from where I live, there’re already 10 cafes. Is there really such a demand for that many coffee/teahouse? Apparently YES because I see many customers all the times. O_o;;

Eat well (Silver lake)

//// By in 05: Silver Lake + Echo Park

DSCN7488.jpgDSCN7489.jpg
DSCN7490.jpgMet up with a friend for Brunch at Eat Well which we blogged long time ago. This neighbourhood diner is always crowded and is especially packed on Sunday brunch time. I was 10 minutes late and we still had to wait at least 20 minutes more for our table. I got the Egg Benedict with a side of pork Sausages. Since I didn’t have good impression on this place last time, the egg benedict turns out to be surprisingly good. I guess you can’t go too wrong with egg benedict in general. My friend got the Biscuit with gravy with sides of Bacon and toast. Apparently he has brunch here every Sunday and probably order the same things too ^^;;

Dried Stingray Fin, tasty and much better texture (crispier) than the usual dried squid. Assorted cutlet, including yam, shishito (Japanese sweet pepper), oyster, shrimp, etc.
DSC09980.jpgDSCN7471.jpg
Takoyaki (pan fried octopus ball), very good! and Fried Mochi.
DSCN7475.jpgSweet Miso Oyster! Back to this Japanese tapas bar! (see old entry). It’s a wonderful place but still relatively unknown (too authentic?). After 2 visits I still feel like there’re so many things to try~ I need to come back here on the Wednesday’s Ladies night~
