Blue Marlin (Sawtelle)

//// By in 12: Sawtelle

DSC05159.jpgA lot of Japanese Yoshoku these days. Cheese Hamburg steak (=meatloaf). Quite good~ 😀 Comes with salad and a very watery no taste miso soup. Blue Marlin‘s quality isn’t so stable recently. The other day I had an Uni spinach spagehetti and it was too watery.

DSC05142.jpgTime to explore more restaurant around my office. Turns out this authentic Japanese restaurant not so ‘nearby’ (it’s right next to the Westside Pavillion) but whatever…^^;; I got the Housemade Tofu, it could have been nicer if the sauce weren’t that’s too salty. The Grilled Beef set is very flavored, tender, juicy and delicious. The presentation is very nice. Total added up quite expensive…so probably won’t come back here often.

Cliff’s Edge (Silver Lake)

//// By in 05: Silver Lake + Echo Park

DSC04597.jpgDSC04602.jpgDSC04604.jpgDSC04607.jpgA month-old entry that I totally forgot to type up! The entrance of this Italian/Mediterranean place is quite interesting, the giant tall heavy wooden door reminds me of a secret garden. Inside it’s a outdoor courtyard with a large tree in the middle. There are trees and plants all over the place so it feels almost like a jungle. I wasn’t so hungry so I got the Stuffed Zucchini, an apetitizer special. It’s very delicious and quite filling as well. My friends got the Ahi-Tuna Steak and some sort of risotto.

DSC04609.jpgDSC04614.jpgWe got two desserts, one is a ginger lemon sorbet which was quite addictive, the ginger flavor is very strong so your mouth gets a bit numb from the ginger spice and the coldness of ice. The Tiramisu is so-so.

All freelancers are gone and Adam’s in Japan for business trip right now. I lunched alone mostly. Carbonara from this Japanese yoshoku place. Doesn’t taste like carbonara (blocks of ham instead of bacon for instance) but strangely addictive.
